The 2000 TT will always be remembered for Joey
Dunlop's amazing win in the Formula One Race aboard the factory SP1 Honda. As
we now know, Joey went on to win a further two races that week, becoming the
only rider ever to win three races in a week on three occasions. He also set is
fastest ever lap of the circuit on his last ever lap in the Senior Race. Less
than a month later he was tragically killed in Tallinn Estonia.
But Joey
wasn't the only hat trick hero, with Yorkshire man David Jefferies taking three
victories for the second year running and lapping at over 125mph for the first
time.
Other winners included Rob Fisher who was dominant in the Sidecar
races, with Dave Molyneux missing the TT in pursuit of World Championship
glory; John McGuinness won an emotional Singles TT for the Morris brothers, on
the famous Chrysalis BMW and Brett Richmond in the 400cc Supersport
Class.
The 2000 TT was not without its scandal either, with Geoff
McMullan being excluded from the 400 race after it was discovered he was using
an oversized motor and Jim Moodie parted company with Honda during Race
Week.
It was a great fortnight, and here are some of the images to
remind you of TT 2000.
