With 16 races over Tuesday and Wednesday evenings plus all-day Thursday no less than nine victories were taken within half-a-second, such was the closeness of the racing!
As William Dunlop says in the current edition of Road Racing Ireland: "I went to see most of the 600 and Superbike classes and the racing was awesome!"
Greenlight Television were out in force filming the action with 8 ground cameras, 4 kerb cams and 32 on-bike cameras. That's the highest number of bike cameras they have ever used at a single event.
Some bikes just carried one camera but several were multi-camera installations with 3 views from the same machine.
Four out of the top five finishers in the Solo Championship Race were carrying on boards, and the gap between them was less than a second at the chequered flag!
In addition to the full coverage of all the races, cameras were also recording the paddock atmosphere and were present at the unique prize presentation in Castletown Square, providing in total 4-hours of exilerating action, interviews and behind-the-scenes footage of the Southern 100.
The 2009 Steam Packet Southern 100 International Road Races DVD, is due out early September priced at £14.99 plus £1.50 p&p via the Southern 100 website (www.southern100.com)
