Michael Rutter is facing the Cheshire circuit with renewed confidence following a double victory at his home track of Mallory Park for round three of the world’s leading domestic series. The 31-year-old HM Plant Honda Racing rider is keen to maintain – and extend – his lead at the top of the championship standings.

His Japanese team-mate Kiyonari unfortunately missed out on both legs of the championship at the Leicestershire circuit after an early highside in race one. However, the 21-year-old is planning to race at Oulton Park, despite some pain in his right ankle – the result of a chipped bone sustained in last weekend’s accident.

Michael Rutter: “I’m really revved up for Oulton Park. The HM Plant Honda Racing team as a whole has had a fantastic season so far and we’re aiming to ensure that continues. I’ve made no secret of my desire to secure the title this year and I know I’m going to have to work really hard to cement my lead over the next ten rounds – particularly with Kiyo as a team mate!”

Ryuichi Kiyonari: “I’m feeling a little beaten up at the moment. My ankle is sore and my left ankle is also still hurting from [an accident at] Thruxton, but I hope that won’t stop me from challenging for more race wins. I hurt my collarbone at Oulton Park last year, so I’m hoping for a bit more luck there this season.”
