Phil Hogg Fundraising news

Author: Phil Hogg Rescue Fund
Posted on: Wednesday, May 11 2005

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the following people who have once again helped ensure that the running of Phil Hogg Rescue Units is made easier due to the overwhelming support received at our annual auction in February, at the Imperial Hotel on Douglas Promenade.
This year we had a double bonus with a huge and totally unexpected donation of £5,600 from our long time supporters and friends Neil Millar and larger than life character Hills, who travelled from Aberdeen along with TT regular Phil Shorty Stewart. The money had been previously raised by supporters of Neil and his then sidecar driver Jock Skene (Twin of MGP winner Mick). This was to be used to fund their attack on the World Superside Championship, however due to problems unfortunately the boys could not campaign the championship. This did leave them in a positon of having a large amount of cash which had been raised through donations social evenings etc, which they had to do something with. At a meeting of the committee behind the fund raising it was suggested by Neil and Hills the money go to Phil Hogg Rescue. This is an honour for us considering all the local charities they could probably have helped and strenghthens the bond our family have with the Aberdeen folk stretching back to the late 60s when sidecar driver Alastair Lewis first stayed at my parents hotel.
This link has never been broken with great friend and Phil's major sponsor Roy Shirlaw still staying with us and Neil and the guys travelling annually for our auction. A great set of lads who should be made honorary Manxmen!
That was the start of our auction so how do you follow that. It can only get better, which it did. Thanks to our auction team who we rely on every year; Jean, Shirley, and David and the Imperial Hotel and all their staff who give up their time.
