TIM REEVES GETS TO TEST NEW OUTFIT IN SPAIN

The current world champions arrived at Cartagena with absolutely no sleep but were eager to put the new F2 sidecar through its paces.

Having only taken delivery of the new, smaller engine capacity machine a couple of weeks ago this was the first opportunity the pair had to see how it handled in comparison to the larger and more powerful F1 machine used in the World and British F1 championship.

The first outing on the new F2 LCR 600cc outfit went very well and by the end of the first test day they were posting respectable times not too far away from lap record pace.

This is the first time Tim has raced the smaller machine and he said: “It’s a funny little thing compared to my usual outfit but it doesn’t appear to be a lot slower. I soon settled to the different handling etc and felt quite at home on it. Of course Patrick has raced an F2 for years and immediately gelled with it. I will try some different compound tyres tomorrow and see if I can get it going a bit faster!”

Ten-times world champion Steve Webster who is backing Tim this year and supplied the F2 LCR outfit, accompanied Tim and Patrick to Cartagena. Despite not racing for over three years Webbo couldn’t resist the urge to get on the track. He put in a few laps on the new bike and thoroughly enjoyed himself and indicated that he would love to have another blast around the Spanish track the following day!

Tim and Patrick intend to contest the British F2 championship in 2008 and will make their debut at the Isle of Man TT races on the outfit.

They will also contest the World and British F1 championships on the bigger and more powerful F1 machine.
