Joey Dunlop
Exibition
|
12th May to 16th June
2001
The Manx Museum, Douglas
|
As a tribute to the life and triumphs of the great
Joey Dunlop, the thrills and spills of Joey's auspicious TT racing career can
be seen on large banners adorning the walls at the Manx Museum, Douglas. Over
thirty stunning images show Joey in action as well as relaxing with team-mates
and celebrating some of his record breaking twenty-six wins.
Joey's
Gemini Honda bike provides the centre-piece of the display. It is flanked by
three of the major TT trophies that Joey won during a road-racing career that
spanned over twenty years in the Isle of Man. The Senior, Junior and Formula
One trophies are not only a magnificent record of the history of the TT races,
but also document the major impression that Joey Dunlop made on the sport.

This exhibition is not about TT facts and figures, but
attempts to provide an atmosphere for race-fans and newcomers alike to
contemplate the greatness of the man behind the machine. Visitors to the
exhibition may gain some understanding as to why Joey Dunlop was a champion and
why he will always remain a hero, particularly in the Isle of Man.
The
Manx Museum is open from Monday to Saturday 10 am. to 5pm. Admission is
free.
