Van Morrison Tickets
Selling Well
|
|
Music legend Van Morrison has revealed he is looking
forward to his concert at the Villa Marina Gardens, Douglas, on June 3, as
tickets continue to sell well.
The Irish singer, who rarely gives
interviews to the media, revealed his thoughts on the Joey Dunlop tribute gig
through a statement issued from his office. It read: 'There has always been a
special relationship between the people of Northern Ireland and the Isle of
Man. Mr Morrison is really looking forward to returning there for his concert
in June.'
Tickets are selling fast for the concert with more than 1,200
being sold already. However, tickets are selling slower for the Fun Lovin'
Criminals show at the gardens on Saturday, June 2. As of Friday morning it is
believed only around 300 tickets had been sold for the 10,000 capacity venue,
although tickets only went on sale last week.
Meanwhile, plans for other
entertainment over the TT fortnight are continuing to be arranged. Monday, June
4, will officially be Port Erin Day, with a number of activities centred in the
town. The Department of Tourism and Leisure's special events department has
been working closely with Port Erin Commissioners and Port Erin Traders'
Association to host a number of attractions, including street entertainers, a
vintage motorcycle display, live music and a lifeboat display as well as
windsurfing and canoe hire.
The DTL is aiming to base all the major
attractions in town centres in a bid to reduce the risk of foot-and-mouth
disease spreading to the Island. Usual festival activities such as Bushy's tent
on Douglas Promenade, stunt bikes, mini motos, karts, a fun fair and Red Arrows
and firework displays will also go ahead as planned.
Tickets for the Van
Morrison show are £22.50 while FLC tickets are £17.50, and are
available from Shoprite, Villa Marina box office and Dukevideo
and its ticket line 01624 640004.
