Mid Antrim to be Ulster's First Road Race of 2001

The Mid Antrim Motor Club have announced that this
years Mid Antrim 150 Road Races will go ahead as
planned the Clough circuit on Friday the 3rd August
and Saturday the 4th August 2001 providing that there
are no further outbreaks of Foot and Mouth disease in
the area. Work is underway on circuit improvements recommended
by the MCUI task force report. More wooden fences
have been made removable, some electric poles have
been re-positioned and some Telecom poles will be
repositioned before the meeting.

With much assistance from the DOE, and the local
council, road name signs, village signs and speed
signs will be either moved or repositioned.
The Mid Antrim Club would very much like to thank most
sincerely all the bodies involved for all their
co-operation and especially all the residents and land
owners who have given them nothing but their utmost
help and support in their efforts to make the Clough
Circuit as safe as possible.
On Friday the 3rd August roads close for practice at
6:30pm with the first session due to commence at
7:00pm. Under the new MCUI (UC) rules all competitors
must practice the night before the event.
Roads close at 10:00am on Saturday the 4th for racing.
There will be a full race programme around the
3.6-mile Clough circuit with a top class entry
expected including Adrian Archibald, Richard Britton,
Adrian McFarland, Ryan Farquhar, Seamus Greene, Victor
Gilmore, Robert Dunlop, Colin Rodgers, Gary Jess, Alex
Donaldson and Paul Truesdale amongst others.
Manx aces Paul Hunt and Barry Wood also hope to take
part depending on travel arrangements.
