Two-Strokes - The final nail in the coffin?
|
In a recent Press Release, Honda HRC has confirmed
that all production
of their Two-stroke motorcycles will cease in 2003.
HRC supreme, Yasuo
Ikenoya said 'That affects everything, from scooters
to sports bikes'.
Next years GP1 World Championship will see the all new
Four-Stroke
racers being used for the first time, with Honda,
Yamaha, Suzuki and
Ducati all aiming to have Four-Stroke machines on the
grid next year. The repercussions this will have on racing in wider
scales are massive.
250cc and 125cc racing is likely to be slowly fazed
out, and as we know
the 250cc TT has already been scrapped as a race on
it's own.
Is this the final nail in the coffin for the
struggling two-stroke classes, and how long can they
go on for, even at club level?
