Pinhard Trophy Search is On.
|
Every year the Sunbeam Motorcycle Club organise the
"Pinhard Trophy" award for the best under 21
motorcycle sport rider in the UK. Allan Robinson of
Helix Ltd, the motorcycle racing commentator, handles
the clerical and logistical side of the award.
The huge Pinhard silver cup - perhaps the biggest cup
in all of motorcycle sport and a cheque from the
trustees of the legacy left by Fred Pinhard 51 years
ago has, annually, gone to men and women who have gone
on from youth sport to become world champions. The
list is long and prestigious and includes Mike
Hailwood GM. M.B.E., John Surtees M.B.E., Jeff Smith
M.B.E. and stars of every discipline of motorcycle
sport - some who won it 50 years ago are now old age
pensioners!!
Last years winner was John Walker aged 10, a skilled
and outstanding trials rider from Keswick, Cumbria.
All Clubs and indeed, anyone who would like to make a
nomination to put before the judges can obtain the
criteria and application forms from Allan Robinson
