Steam Packet figures hit again by TT Cancellation
|
Steam Packet figures dropped dramatically in June as
the impact of the cancellation of the TT hit home.
Passenger traffic fell by 45.6 per cent, from 109,423
last June to 59,542.
Vehicle traffic was down 60 per cent on 2000, with
just 15,096 cars and bikes crossing the Irish Sea.
Director of harbours Captain Mike Brew said the
cancellation of the TT hit May's figures but was even
more apparent in June.
But he said: 'Excluding the TT, the underlying trend,
however, remains
positive, with passenger traffic outside the race
period increasing by 5.5 per cent.'
