Tourism and Leisure Minister David Cretney MHK, has confirmed that a life size statue of twenty six times TT winner, Joey Dunlop, is being commissioned in time for the 2002 TT Races.
The statue is thought to be of Joey standing in his racing leathers, holding his helmet, and will be erected at the Bungalow area of the Mountain Circuit.
Another tribute to Joey Dunlop is the former Ballymoney Leisure Center on the Garryduff Road, near to the home of Joey Dunlop, has been renamed 'The Joey Dunlop Leisure Centre' by The Ballymoney Bourough Council.
Joey was a regular at the center, using it to swim and keep fit during his career, as the best Road Racer ever.
