Decision expected over TT 2002 |
The Council of Ministers was set to discuss plans for TT 2002 this week.
Tourism and Leisure Minister David Cretney wanted to get the go-ahead for
the event at today's meeting.
He believes a quick decision is important - the marketing of it is due to
start at a motorbike show at the NEC in Birmingham in November.
The TT was cancelled earlier this year due to the threat of foot-and-mouth,
and tourism bosses are keen to make sure that the same thing won't happen
again next year.
Meanwhile, Mr Cretney has not had a reply back from the British Superbike
Championship organisers about the possible date clash with TT 2002 following
a recent meeting. He said: 'We will have to wait and see what happens.
