FINNEGAN
GOES WITH PADGETT FOR MANX EFFORT |
|
Twenty one year old Martin Finnegan, from Lusk in
Ireland is making a return to this years Manx Grand Prix, one year after his
amazing win in the Lightweight Newcomers Race.
The talented rider is
currently riding in the British Junior Supersport Championship for Team Ireland
Racing alongside multi North West 200 winner, Woosley Coulter. |
|
However his Manx Grand Prix effort
will be backed by Clive Padgett from Padgett's of Batley. He will ride a 250cc
RS Honda in both the Junior and Lightweight races with additional backing from
long time friend and sponsor Tony Carton.
Martin told us 'I'm really
glad to be getting the chance to do the Manx again, because ultimately I want
to carve out a career at the TT'.
'I'm enjoying this year in Britain,
even though there is so much to learn, and it's a bit different to the road's
back home'.
'I haven't turned my back on the roads and I'll always do
the North West, and hopefully soon, the TT and probably the Ulster'.
'And I'm still riding the G50 at Skerries because if I don't, Alan
(Sweetman) reckons he's going to sue me for breach of contract!'
Martin
will start as one of the firm favourites at this years Manx, and he will be
particularly hard to beat if it rains, being what some people call a wet
weather specialist.
It is good to know that there are still some
talented, young riders wanting to take part in Pure Road Racing. Let's hope the
TT organisers notice his ability in the future, and do their best to ensure he
continues to ride in the Isle of Man.
