Bike hire on IOM? - N11NJA - 26-11-2014
Just a thought..guys
Is there any M/bike hire places on the IOM for TT race week? That would give me loads more options... fly / ride.

Yes jason griffith hires triumphs out, but they are expensive, ok for a day or two, not really a option for a long stay. There was someone started up with a couple of old bmws but I was never really sure they proper comprehensive insurance. I did hire on the island for three years had 15 bikes there but the problem is that everyone wanted them over mad sunday weekend and not the fortnight so it wasnt viable

Insurance will cost a fair bit, what is comprehensive... what does it comprehend? bodily hurt as well?

In the UK we have three kind of vehicle insurance.
Third party- Covers you if you are involved in an accident which is your fault but does not cover the cost to repair/replace your vehicle.
Third party fire and theft. As above but covers your vehicle if it is stolen or suffers fire damage.
Compehensive. as above but also includes cover for vehicle if you damage it yourself in an accident.

ow right, thanks. Funny we call comprehensive: "all risks" and we use these two English words for that. Gives one the idea the British would call it that too... but not so.

Be a right pi**er if you dropped it even at low speed, bet they'd use the old rule of thumb you bend it you mend it in fact we'll mend it that's £750.

No, any damage done should be covered by the comprehensive coverage, unless it is self inflicted with forethought, but if it's an unforeseen accident, should be covered.

Right right I gotcha Amsterdam makes sense, it's not a bad price for say a day or two bit heavy if you wanted it for a week mind. There's a guy on my manor rents out pretty high end rally cars on a "you bend you mend" term but I suppose that's a race car, with the rented bike it's got road insurance just like renting a van in effect.

yes it does say the £750 deposit is kept to cover the ecess on the policy and any repairs will come out of that deposit unless its over that price then you get nothing back
but come on £180 a day to hire a bike thats not cheap
i know things are more expensive on the island but come on
hire the bike for a fortnight and its 2 and a half grand

Right, the excess (which in Holland is called "own risk") is 250,- Euros
which clearly is a figure "one could live with" rather than 750 pounds...

Yes, the problem is that it does not take much of an off these days to do £750.00 worth of damage. On most modern sportsbikes, you will do more than £750.00 worth of damage by letting it fall off the sidestand.
