A motorcyclist is in a critical condition in Christchurch Hospital after a serious crash while racing on Saturday.
Shaun Harris was thrown from his motorcycle on a hairpin at the Levels Raceway in Timaru.
Another rider, Andrew Stroud, said Mr Harris had a serious head injury and last night was still in an induced coma. Doctors were are still working out the extent of the injury.
Mr Harris had another major crash in 2007 during a road race in the Isle of Man.

Shaun remains in the intensive care unit at Christchurch Hospital
The 50-year-old who was flown to Christchurch Hospital by helicopter remains in the intensive care unit on Wednesday morning, Canterbury District Health Board, spokeswoman Amy Milne said.

Fiona has posted on Alex George's website. Shaun has been awake and has been talking a little,but has been re-sedated for now. Things looking a little brighter hopefully.

Yesterday (day 12) the nurses hoisted Shaun into a chair for half an hour.
Sedation had to be put back on the night before as he gets too agitated.
They have changed pain relief as they not sure if this is adding to it.
He didn't recognise me and Petra but it was an amazing experience to see him in a chair.
It's a beautiful day here this morning so hope it brings lots of positives.

as for shaun getting adjitated well thats how we remember him
