Listening to the commentary I thought I picked up that 700cc engines were allowed in the class this year ? and that Ryan was running 700cc motors ... or was it just the new for 2022 bikes R7 and RS660 that can run bigger standard motors ?

Well, there's a thing Alfie. I heard that in commentary as well but I had the impression that it only applied to the Yamaha and Aprilia. However, I have little doubt that current bikes will have to be afforded the same privilege at some point. I don't know for certainty, but I don't think that it applies currently.

the info is a bit foggy isn't it ..... Just been looking on the net for info, seems to be that TT2021 Supertwin regs(can't find any updates for TT2022) allowed the latest R7 and RS660 to race but it does say that changing bore and stroke for the class isn't allowed for any bike in the class .... but that's the TT regs which maybe possibly differ from NW200 regs ....

I'm fairly certain that Ryan said in the interviews that they were running a 700 engine due to rule changes. The new motor being a bit of a risk for him.
Shame about the disqualification. Ryan puts a lot into road racing so I hope it comes to a fair resolution.
Personally - when it comes to the pointy end of professional motorsport a rule is a rule regardless of the perceived advantage. But I'm sure there are many other viewpoints.

Just seen on Twitter that KTS have advised that Jamie Coward did not submit the protest.
Hopefully Ryan will update his statement accordingly (assuming of course that it is genuinely Ryan).

Yes, they have released a statement. They are saying it was a member of the technical staff rather than Jamie himself.
NW200.org refer to 2022 Supertwins as being 650cc. There were a few Aprilias which are 660. Was Richard's bike the only 700 Sam?

I'm afraid I'm only going on my memory of an interview I listened to so hardly solid facts. That said I'd bet my mortgage that Ryan said they were running a 700. But as far as I know the capacity isn't at issue.

It seems to me possible though, that if that was the case, and them alone, a protest may have been lodged on some minor issue because of it. It's impossible to know who may, or may not, hae been running 700cc, an increse of 50cc could easily equate to 10-12 bhp.

Watching MD's rear tyre disintegrate at speed with the back end coming round reminded me of his fathers crash at Ballaugh for some reason. It's a miracle no serious incidents occurred as a result. Horrendous.

Having said that, the front treaded of Davy Todd lost a chunk too, not quite limited to the rears or the slicks then!
I hope this doesn't happen at the TT.
I realise that the Dunlop teams will have tested and set up on Dunlops, would a tyre brand swap be a major upheaval?
Dunlop cannot complain if they cannot supply suitably safe racing rubber.
