I now have a new bike ( much debt) and hope to return in 2009. Couperman - Stella - 14-12-2007 thewitch Wrote:No, no... a different Tom Dickie. As far as I know, until his sn Ian started racing, Mr D had no connection with bikes. He was a retired serviceman (Air Force? Stella?) who had taken a retirement job with "Mother's Pride"... many jokes about sausage rolls and baps during his reign at EF. Yes thats right Helen, the original officer and a gentleman. 8) But you didn`t dare cross him ! - MV - 14-12-2007 Never mind a book, Mose deserves a film! If Holywood made it the only actor big enough to play him would be jim carey! - thewitch - 14-12-2007 Couperman could have a small part in it......... - MV - 14-12-2007 A small part? Thats very personal! Any suggestion for someone to play Mose? - DCLUCIE - 14-12-2007 OKey dokey, my head is sore but I think this might be right, and as for Fitzy and his Church Bends thing, lets be honest Fitzy the zipper broke on your leathers lol must have put on a few pounds in the pubs during the week I think Cargo suffered the same thing a while back ... guess its not just you Fitzy, but we did have fun way back at the start didn't we matey. Started racing way back in the early 80's as a sidecar driver but thought that passengering looked more fun so started that instead. Forced to jack it all in through injury and the onset of a spinal disease. Raced all over as below and I must say met loads of great people some of whom are no longer with us, but will always be remembered by me as being apart of the life I loved. Jurby (of Course) Cadwell Aintree Oulton Park Croft East Fortune Knockhill Brans Silverstone Three Sisters Bruno Paul Richard Roads Southern TT (but only once) Jurby (of course) I now do the timekeeping at every opportunity, only just to try to put something back...... - MV - 14-12-2007 Well Crofter? having started this thread..... what do you think of the responses? Ramsey Road race!, Now how many knew there was a road race in Ramsey other than the locals? - thewitch - 14-12-2007 Nope, but I've done the Ramsey sprint... that was all Gail's fault. - DCLUCIE - 14-12-2007 Fitz Wrote:Oooh Ooooh I missed one! Count me in on this one.... forgot all about that..... Fastest lap i think was about 35 mph average, shortest and slowest road race in the world...... Now there is another challenge.... are there any slower? - thewitch - 14-12-2007 Where was it? (yeah, yeah, Ramsey...) - Bill Snelling - 14-12-2007 The Ramsey circuit used part of the Mooragh Promenade and round the back of the (ex) hotels, now apartments that were part of the Internment camp in WWII. I recall they had scooters racing there too. Slowest circuit may have been the one in Wales, can't think of its real name but it was called something like 'Ruddy women'. Eric Cheers used to gear his bike to be first off the line and kept his elbows out and the rest behind (his quote of many years ago). - larryd - 14-12-2007 Rhydymwyn (Ruddymewen!) that was, Bill. If you were out there, you're a hell of a lot older than I thought you were :!: :!: - pykey - 15-12-2007 Rydymymn was a great little track nr Mold and it was about the size of 3 sisters, in fact if you log on to http://www.wirral100.com you can find out more and obtain some great videos of the golden days. |
