RE: [split] Nothing to do with Eddie Nelson, - George - 20-06-2009 If the penalty for running the red flag is to be disqualified then the riders that finished behind Bud should have also been disqualified. Do you not think Bud may have been indicating two laps to go RE: [split] Nothing to do with Eddie Nelson, - DCLUCIE - 22-06-2009 Actually George to get this straight once and for all, I was at the start line and Bud was one of only TWO riders to run the red flag. The others that finnished behind Bud were overtaken by him on the last lap, they were still on their 5th lap as Bud was starting his 6th. All of this is by the by. I agree that both riders that had the red flag shown to them and ignored it should both hav been disqualified if they had acknowlaged the red flag. Bud did so by the raising his arm the first time around and on the second by raising two fingers to the officials who were holding the flag. THIS CAN NOT BE ALLOWED. No matter who it was this should never happen and you are a fool if you think it should be perfectly fine to do this when you are the one who has ignored a RED FLAG. Which we all know if one is shown you should stop straight away no matter what or where they maybe shown. So basically if you think that passing a red flag is ok, then you are just causing more trouble than its worth an all of your comments should be ignored. What would have happened if the reason for the flag was a crash at the bottom of Bray, and Bud was killed, you would be on here shouting about why didn't they stop him. Well he ignored the flag and this, as said on here many many times, should be punished. Bud did himself no favours by the amount of disrespect shown to the flag person and the officials afterwards. I just hope you are not condining this type of behaviour George as it would only go to show your ignorance about whats actually involved in putting on a race of this sort. RE: [split] Nothing to do with Eddie Nelson, - George - 22-06-2009 David I have no reason to disagree with you but if you take a look at the lap details for lap 5 and six you will see that the same riders were behind Bud at the start of both laps, they were also the last three riders to finish lap six. If Bud was red flaged at the start of lap 6 along with the two other riders behind him, then they should have been Black flagged, is that not the rules, or a mater of safety. These three riders were alowed to complete the last lap but only one disqualified. Yes I would agree break the rules and be punished, but punish all that broke them. Just a thought, If the riders had passed a red flag at the Bray Hill Crossroads at the start of lap six, what happened to the rest of the red flags on the track, were they not out, I cant believe that riders would race the last lap if the red flags were out, something is not right. RE: [split] Nothing to do with Eddie Nelson, - Tomcat - 22-06-2009 I can't understand anyone going through a red flag. The roads could have been open past St Ninians <shudder>..... can you imagine the headlines? There's a time and a place to give 2 fingers to the ACU but speeding past a red flag ain't it. RE: [split] Nothing to do with Eddie Nelson, - George - 22-06-2009 Exactly TC, where were the red flags after Bray Hill. They may be your drinking buddies for all I know but such disrespect for officials is completely out of order. Acknowledging your right to complain however, the majority of reports from the Island do not support your somewhat excited contentions. That such emotive claims have been allowed to continue on this website show a remarkable amount of tolerance by the moderator. Good luck with your campaign. RE: [split] Nothing to do with Eddie Nelson, - George - 23-06-2009 Don. I would be the first to hold my hand up, but please explaine how three riders can complete the last lap at racing speed if the red flags were out, only one was disqualified. Take a look at the results for laps 5 & 6, the published times dont lie. Agreed break the rules and your out, but it has to apply to all. RE: [split] Nothing to do with Eddie Nelson, - Malcolm - 23-06-2009 OK, that's enough on this subject now. I have been extremely tolerant of the to'ing and fro'ing over this matter and am of the opinion that there is nothing further to be gained by "beating the same isue to death" without any substantiation from either the personnel and/or officials who were directly involved.
