Maybe this is more irony I am missing but it doesn't sound like something that could happen in this world. You aren't getting 70+ riders now. 40 odd finishers at most in the races so far. So 70 not really required. I do know of a few non contracted riders that would love to join in a one make race, just gives them an opportunity to shine, maybe you would get the young up and coming riders who don't have full factory back up, a race for future winners, you have all been crying for that........... RE: Is it a Record - DCLUCIE - 04-06-2008 Hey Colin you obviously missed the greatest band in the world playing at the Manxie the other night and the QB last night... Unreasonable Behaviour ... they packed them in and the screaming fans were all shouting for more ........ rock at its best ....... Colin - a well thought out and constructive response and many good ideas - good on ya. Sam RE: Is it a Record - FC - 05-06-2008 I was speaking to one of the Police last night and he explained that it would be cheaper for the DTL to cover the costs of putting free or cheap late night buses on to cover the campsites as the cost of attending an accident by police and medical staff is expensive and not all accidents are caused by drink drivers, he made a good point when he said that riders at the IOM spend more time on their bikes and have may early mornings and late nights, a tired rider is no better than a drink driver RE: Is it a Record - FC - 05-06-2008 Following on from previous the same officer came out with another idea, The Island has been spending £100s Millions over the past decade on infrastructure following works to new houses, prison, treatment plant and other major developments, With a little thought and interdepartmental agreement within Government why did they not fit a race track within one of the schemes. Thinking about it I feel the Island has missed a great opportunity, how much extra would it have cost to put wider roads, run offs and landscaped embankments it. Malcolm fron Admin worked on one of these projects and a brand new road in the middle of Santon was put in, this would have made a nice three mile track. Any thoughts on this Malcolm RE: Is it a Record - oatssi - 05-06-2008 DCLUCIE Wrote:oatssi Wrote:Can you think of any one make series that has 70+ riders that would get out of bed and decide that they would do the TT? Not really Colin, however there have been some great opportunities missed I agree. The road in question wasn't exactly brand new, (well most of it anyway), simply an upgrade to a very old road leading to a derelict farmhouse that was utilised for the siting of the new facility. It does have a sort of mini Bray Hill on it mind you, but I cannot see how it could have been made into a 3 mile circuit. It already crosses private land and would have to cross even more private land (different owner) and knowing the owner of the latter personally, there would be more chance of me winning the Senior tomorrow than that happening. ps - The Gorselea Marshals would have had a great time up there watching all the wildlife (lol). |
