Brogie’s back, and this year the British race ace and former Superstock Champion, Steve ‘Brogie’ Brogan, is realising his dream of competing in the British Superbike Championship and, on his machine of choice - the Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade – supported by Honda (UK).

Having won the 2008 British Superstock Championship in style on the award-winning Fireblade with the HM Plant Honda team, the affable Liverpudlian returned to the series in 2009 but had to settle for second place following a hard fought season which produced nail-biting racing action between Brogie and eventual series winner Seeley. For 2010, Steve left the Honda squad and moved into the BSB Evo Championship where he lifted the crown but, for 2011, he is stepping up into the British Superbike Championship, where he has his sights set firmly on challenging for the Championship title with the Honda Fireblade.

Brogie commented,

“I’ve enjoyed the last few seasons in the BSB support classes but, have always had the ambition to compete in the main BSB Championship and ultimately win the title. I’m certainly ready for the challenge and with the opportunity with the Jentin Racing team, who I’ve now got a great working relationship with, for me riding the Honda Fireblade and working with Honda again is the best package at this time to try and go out and achieve my aim.

“I’ve spent much of my racing career on a Fireblade in its various forms and the chassis balance and overall handling is superb, although I’ve also got experience of other manufacturer models too. The Fireblade’s results last year – with a 1-2 in the championship – also speak for themselves and my ‘Blade for 2011 will be close to the specification of the HM Plant Honda machines. I’ve got great confidence in the ‘Blade and know I can hit the ground running with that particular bike when we start testing as we’ll already have proven base settings and electronics to work from. I’ve never ridden a bike with electronics on before so having the insight into that from the team at Honda will be a great support for me and Jentin Racing, who run a really close knit and professional team. I can’t thank Honda (UK) enough for their support this coming season and the faith they are showing in me with my return to Honda. I now just have to do myself, the team, our sponsors, the Fireblade and Honda proud in all respects which is as much my intention as going out there to try and win the BSB Championship.”

Honda (UK) Motorcycles’ General Manager, Steve Martindale commented,

“Brogie has proved himself time and again, not just as a great and exciting racer, but as a superb Honda ambassador and generally great guy who everyone thinks the world of. It’s encouraging to know that Steve believes the Fireblade is the best package out there and we’re pleased to be supporting him with the CBR1000RR this coming season and, have every confidence he’ll give it his all and get some great result for himself and Honda.”

The 2011 BSB series kicks-off on Easter weekend, 23-25 April, at Brands Hatch in Kent, where Brogie will line up on the grid to further strengthen the Honda Fireblade presence and produce some exciting racing action alongside Honda (UK)’s own HM Plant Honda team with Shakey and Kiyo.
