The Fuchs-Silkolene British Supersport Championship has all the hallmarks of another astounding season and gets underway at Brands Hatch on Easter weekend (22-25 April) with several cast changes adding to the drama.

2009 Metzeler National Superstock 1000 champion Alastair Seeley moves into the class with the Relentless Suzuki team and is determined to secure another crown. In his rookie season last year in BSB he powered into the Showdown. Seeley is surely in contention for the title and one of the favourites that all others will be aiming to defeat. He will be onboard the all-new GSX R 600 which was hailed in last week's Motorcycle News as the "new king of Supersports" following a recent test. Former GP rider Simon Crafar who took part as a guest test rider added that "it is the whole package and they have got everything right."

Honda were victorious last season and the championship-winning bikes will be back on the grid in East Coast Racing livery. The team have enlisted road race specialist Gary Johnson who finished third in last year's Mirror.co.uk BSB Evo class and young gun 2008 National Superstock 600 champion Lee Johnston.

Billy McConnell has failed to hit the target in past seasons but his sole objective is title success this season after moving to the TAG Triumph team alongside fellow Australian Paul Young who had some impressive performances at the start of last year before he was sidelined through injury. The team will also field British Supermoto Champion Christian Iddon and Shaun Winfield. 777 Motorsport will make their debut in the class this season with multiple BSB-Evo podium finisher Pauli Pekkanen aboard a Triumph, whilst Smiths (Gloucester) Limited will line up with a three rider attack on the championship including Supersport podium scorer Dan Cooper and European Superstock 600 race winner Luke Mossey.

Ben Wilson was a serious title contender and will be the highest ranked rider from 2010 returning to the class and with two season's worth of experience he remains with the Gearlink Kawasaki team to head up the green challenge. Also aboard a Kawasaki will be Luke Stapleford; he missed out on the 2010 National Superstock 600 championship title by just one point at the final round and moves straight into the main class with Bournemouth Kawasaki.

The Championship features an impressive grid with the five manufacturers; Suzuki, Honda, Kawasaki, Yamaha and Triumph all represented - more than its World Championship counterpart which underlines the importance of the British series to the world's leading manufacturers.
