The TT Supporters’ Club in Action at TT 2011 - Malcolm - 25-05-2011 A busy TT fortnight beckons for TT Supporters’ Club officials who look forward to meeting old friends and making new ones at the Club Shop, located in the market stall area at the rear of the Grandstand. Scheduled opening times are 9.00am daily throughout the fortnight until the end of practicing and ‘late’ during race week, depending on what time the races finish. The Club will be supporting the competitors who are members of the Club with a ‘gift package’…the main items of which will be a TT Supporters’ Club fleece and a set of fire retardant overalls, suitable for use in the pit lane and both naturally emblazoned with the Club’s logo…several other items, such as cable ties, duct tape, etc will also be included. Once again the Club is co-ordinating the Sports’ Injuries Clinic for competitors, scheduled to operate from Tuesday 31st June to Wednesday 8th June, inclusive. The facility is offered daily from 9.00am to the conclusion of practices/races. Competitors requiring assistance should contact Liz on 07624 378001 or via the TTSC Shop or ACU Race Office. The Club will also be involved in the provision of SIS Electrolyte Sport Drinks, a substantial donation having been made towards the cost of these products to be handed out to competitors giving them an added energy boost before setting out on the circuit. The Annual Riders’ Draw will take place live on the Charlie Williams’ Radio TT Show - £1000 is up for grabs with the first name drawn out of the hat receiving £400; second will net £200, there will then be four other winners each receiving £100. The TT Supporters’ Club Trophy will be presented to the rider with the fastest aggregate speed across the two Supersport TTs; Ian Hutchinson, with double victories last year, is the current holder of the silver tray on a plinth. Lady competitors will be vying for the Susan Jenness Trophy, currently held by Jenny Tinmouth after her near 120mph lap last year. Awarded in recognition of the most meritorious performance, in the eyes of Club officials, by a female competitor, the trophy is presented in memory of Club member, Susan who tragically lost her life whilst marshalling an off-road event. Club members will be able to renew their membership at the shop; all TT fans are, of course, welcome to join, in so doing assist competitors fulfil their dream of racing on the TT Mountain Course. Annual subscription is £15 [accompanying Juniors - £7.50]; members receive two glossy 52 page magazines per year, the Summer 2011 issue including articles written in conjunction with Davy Morgan, Klaus Klaffenbock, Kenny Howles, Ivan Lintin Paul Phillips and Conor Cummins’ mum, Carole. Memorabilia, souvenirs and race programmes can be purchased at the TTSC shop. As part of the Centenary Anniversary of TT Racing on the Mountain Course the TT Supporters’ Club is looking to consolidate and expand. Current members and those interested in becoming involved are invited to meet with Club officials at the Conference Centre at rear of Grandstand on Tuesday 7th June at 11.00am. In particular the Club is looking to develop regional social / fund raising meetings in the UK and IoM throughout the year. The meeting will be re-scheduled if races are delayed, with an announcement being made on Radio TT as to the new arrangements For further information about the TT Supporters’ Club visit www.ttsupportersclub.com . |
