This piece of information is not intended to start a panic attack among the people who have traveled from Germany to the Isle of Man in the past week or so. It is simply advice issued by the Health Protection Agency of the UK, as there are now 11 reported incidences of this illness in the UK

All new cases are related to recent travel to Germany.

Anyone returning/travelling from Germany with illness including bloody diarrhoea should seek urgent medical attention
and make sure they mention their recent travel history.

Good hygiene is very important in preventing person-to person spread and small children should be supervised
with hand washing after using the toilet and before eating.

The German Authorities have not issued any travel warning.

The advice they have given relates to the consumption of food.
People are advised not to eat raw tomatoes, cucumber and lettuce especially in Northern Germany.
