Fogarty To Star At Castle Combe - Malcolm - 17-08-2011 60 years since the first dedicated motorcycle meeting way back in 1951, Castle Combe Circuit will be celebrating their Fowlers Pro-Bike National race meeting in style next month with a guest appearance by none other than four times World Superbike Champion Carl Fogarty. As part of the celebrations on Saturday 3rd September at the Wiltshire track, as well as a host of top class national racing including the Rapid Solicitors Ducati 848 Challenge, British F2 Sidecars, the British Historic Grand Prix Championship and the Simply Saab Castle Combe Trophy, there will be a star parade featuring a host of racing celebrities. Joining Fogarty on the Parade Lap at lunchtime will be the Rapid Solicitors Bathams Ducati British Superbike Championship pairing of Michael Rutter and Martin Jessopp who will be riding their exotic 1198cc machines and they'll be joined by leading BSB-EVO rider and former Grand Prix ace Scott Smart. Names such as Tony Rutter, David Hailwood and others still to be announced will also feature in the parade after which fans will get the chance to meet the riders for autographs and photos. For Fogarty, it will be a return to the track whereby he set the circuit's first ever 100mph motorcycle lap when he won the MCA Star Race on 19th April 1989. It was the circuit's first national bike meeting for 20 years and Carl averaged over 100mph for all eight laps taking a 3.5 second race win from Steve Chambers with a fastest lap of 102.22 mph. Local Melksham company Avon Tyres will have a static display showing their 100 years of making bike tyres and with the additional support of Motorcycle Direct Insurance and BLD, it promises to be a meeting not to be missed. Adult admission costs just £15 with accompanied children under 16 admitted FREE. A paddock transfer costs just £2.50 with practice getting underway at 08.45 and racing from 11.20.
