Honda TT Legends qualify in the top ten at Le Mans 24-hour - John Foster - 24-09-2011 http://www.hondattlegends.com/honda-tt-legends/news/?race_event_report=1405&str=World Endurance: Round 4 - Qualifying - Le Mans - 24 Hour - 23/09/2011 Quote: RE: Honda TT Legends qualify in the top ten at Le Mans 24-hour - John Foster - 25-09-2011 Sun 25th September 2011 09:41 Russell Benney - Race Manager Russell's update - 10.15am It’s 10.15 in the morning and we’ve entered the most exciting phase of the race. For our strategy, we are trying to look after fifth position. We can’t catch anyone in front because the gap is too large and our collective rider speed cannot match those in front. However we do have a chance and an intention to hold the fifth position from Folch who are behind us by about 110 seconds at the moment. They are travelling at about the same speed as us but they are back-to-backing their fastest two riders so we’ve responded by back-to-backing our fastest two riders. We’re hoping to hold that gap by about one lap and the right at the end we can relax a bit knowing we have a one lap advantage. We can’t do anything about the progress of BMW who are two laps behind us and travelling about a second faster. That means in two laps it’s roughly 200 seconds, so basically in about 100 laps time they are going to pass us. All we can do is keep our noses clean at pit stops, back-to-back our riders for as long as we can health-wise and hope that we can stay in front of them as well. |
