The Lincolnshire rider was the only sportsman from outside football to make the list. The sports broadcaster asked fans to vote for sports stars purely on their character, after criticising the BBC's Sports Personality of the Year nominees for lacking personality. Manx cyclist Mark Cavendish is favourite to win the BBC award. .
