By the midway point of the second day of the official Moto2™ and Moto3™ Test at Jerez, Claudio Corti and Sandro Cortese were the fastest riders in each category.

With just under two hours of the combined session remaining Claudio Corti (Italtrans) was the Moto2™ pace setter, posting a best lap of 1'42.548 on his Kalex to top the timesheet.

Continuing his rapid progression, Marc Márquez (CatalunyaCaixa Repsol) was just nine-thousandths of a second behind the Italian by 2pm local time, improving his time from the previous day by just over half a second to 1'42.557. Fellow Spaniard Pol Espargaró (Pons 40 HP Tuenti) was not far behind in third courtesy of a fast lap of 1'42.656, with Monday's quickest rider Thomas Lüthi (Interwetten Paddock GP) and Mika Kallio (Marc VDS Racing) completing the top five, the Finn the last rider under 1'43”.

Completing the top 10 by midway were Esteve Rabat (Pons 40 HP Tuenti), Takaaki Nakagami (Italtrans), Alex de Angelis (NGM Mobile Forward Racing), Scott Redding (Marc VDS Racing) and Ángel Rodríguez (Desguaces La Torre SAG).

In Moto3™ Sandro Cortese (Red Bull KTM Ajo) overtook Monday's fastest Romano Fenati (Team Italia FMI) to occupy top spot by 2pm. The German's time of 1'48.201 – almost eight-tenths of a second slower than Fenati's effort from the previous day – put him 0.277s ahead of the young Italian.

Cortese's team-mate Danny Kent, Miguel Oliveira (Estrella Galicia 0'0) and Maverick Viñales (Avintia Racing) completed the top five, with Arthur Sissis (Red Bull KTM Ajo), Héctor Faubel (Bankia Aspar), Niklas Ajo (TT Motion Events Racing), Alan Techer (Technomag-CIP-TSR) and Luís Salom (RW Racing) rounding out the top 10. Niccoló Antonelli (San Carlo Gresini Moto3) escaped a heavy crash in the morning session.

The combined session ends at 3.50pm local time, after which the Moto3™ bikes take to the track from 4pm-4.50pm, with Moto2™ having an hour from 5pm-6pm.
