TYCO DUO HEADING FOR ARMOY RACES - Malcolm - 28-06-2012 TYCO Suzuki duo Guy Martin and Conor Cummins will compete at next month’s Armoy road races. Martin has been a regular supporter of the popular national meeting, while Manx rider Cummins – aiming to bounce back from the disappointment of missing the Isle of Man TT through injury – will make his debut at the event. The pair will take on last year’s man of the meeting, Michael Dunlop, his brother William and Ryan Farquhar. Entries for the race are due to close on Monday and Clerk of the Course Bill Kennedy said he was delighted the Northern Ireland-based team would be in action at the North Antrim venue. “We’ve just received entries for both Connor Cummins and Guy Martin for the Armoy road races,” Kennedy said. “We are absolutely delighted that they are joining an already great entry. “My understanding is that Connor needs more time on the roads before the Ulster Grand Prix. “And his management team believe that Armoy would be a good run for him and help him to get some miles under his belt,” he added. “As we all know he had to sit out some of the TT due to a hand injury and he lost a few days’ good road racing. “I’m very happy that they are coming along to our great wee national road race, here in Armoy.” The news is a significant boost for road racing at national level at a time when poor grids at the recent Mid-Antrim 150 and Bush road races coupled with inclement weather put a dampener on both events. Kennedy added: “The closing date for entries is July 2. “And we need all the entries in by then to ensure we get all the administration taken care of in advance of the races and to get our programme up-to-date. “Entries can be downloaded from the website or email the race secretary at racesec@amrrc.com. “It’s shaping up to be a really good event. “And I am confident that we are going to see some exceptional road racing again this year. “There are going to be a few exciting races, including the RiverRidge Recycling ‘Race of Legends’, which will be a giant of a race.” Practice for the Armoy meeting takes places on Friday, July 27 with race day - which is sure to be action filled is on Saturday, July 28. Supporters are being urged to support the event by buying an official race programme (£10), which will be available from Friday, July 20. . |
