The Swan Yamaha team have been building momentum today at Silverstone in preparation for the penultimate round of the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship at the Northamptonshire circuit this weekend.

The first session was soon hampered by rainfall after only a few laps but both riders were undeterred and utilised the time to re-familiarise themselves with the circuit. Defending champion Tommy Hill ended the opening two sessions fourth fastest on his return to the circuit whilst Noriyuki Haga ended fifteenth after struggling with the setting they tested this afternoon. Both riders are feeling confident though that tomorrow then can build on today’s performance ahead of qualifying.

Hill said:

“I had to get out on track this morning just to familiarise myself with the circuit again and get some laps under our belt. I was hoping for a dry session this afternoon and we were lucky but some of the other riders have already tested here so we knew it would be a bit of cat and mouse. It would have been nice to be quickest today but I am happy with the top five as I know we are not a million miles away and we are building momentum. We want to carry that on tomorrow, up our game again and be ready for qualifying.”

Haga said:

“Today hasn’t been easy and we went in the wrong direction with the setting. We started with the one we used for Assen which was a mistake as that didn’t work here, but for tomorrow we know what we need to do. I still need some more confidence to push the front in the corners and I hope that we can find that tomorrow so we can have a good qualifying.”
