Espargaró heads second day in Valencia - Malcolm - 14-02-2013 Tuenti HP 40’s Pol Espargaró didn’t hold back on the second day of Moto2™ testing in Valencia as he posted the fastest time ahead of Mapfre Aspar Team Moto2’s Nico Terol and Interwetten-Paddock’s Tom Lüthi. A time of 1:35’520 saw the Spaniard storm ahead of Terol by just over two tenths, with Espargaró setting his lap late in the day, compared to Terol’s morning run. Terol was testing his new bike for the first time, praising in particular its good grip under acceleration. Lüthi, on the second Suter machine in the top three, will be pleased by his surge in performance on day two, as he marginally held off the charge from Italtrans Racing Team’s Julián Simón, who is looking ever more comfortable on board a Kalex machine. Pol Espargaro in the Tuenti HP 40 Garage Espargaró’s teammate Esteve Rabat looks to have picked up where he left off last year by going fifth fastest, followed by a Johann Zarco on his Came IodaRacing Project Suter, doing well to overcome a small crash yesterday. Italtrans’ Takaaki Nakagami came in seventh, ahead of Marc VDS Racing Team’s Scott Redding and NGM Mobile Forward Racing Team’s Simone Corsi. Terol’s teammate Jordi Torres rounded out the top ten, whilst Tech 3 Racing’s Danny Kent was the fastest rookie in 23rd, just under 2.5s off the top. Kent did well to overcome and early crash, with other fallers including Dynavolt Intact GP’s Sandro Cortese, JiR Moto2’s Mike di Meglio, Kent’s teammate Louis Rossi, Blusens Avintia’s Kyle Smith and QMMF Racing Team’s Rafid Topan Sucipto. Desguaces La Torre SAG’s Marcel Schrötter will miss the rest of the test, as his bike cannot be repaired in time from a crash yesterday. None of the riders were seriously hurt. . |
