Lowes upstages the pack in second session - Malcolm - 14-03-2013 Alex Lowes fired the Samsung Honda to the top of the times in the second official MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship test session at Donington Park this afternoon; toppling the two champions, Shane 'Shakey' Byrne and Ryuichi Kiyonari in the final two minutes. Lowes had been running inside the top three for the majority of the session but in the final minutes moved 0.349 seconds ahead of Byrne who had been fastest after snatching the top spot from Kiyonari in the final 20 minutes. The second Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki of Keith Farmer was fourth fastest as he maintained his position ahead of the leading Buildbase BMW of James Westmoreland, with Jakub Smrz inside the top ten on the Padgetts Honda. Bathams Honda's Tommy Bridewell entered the top ten this afternoon as he pushed Robbin Harms to eighth with Chris Walker and James Ellison rounding out the top ten. Dan Linfoot and Jon Kirkham both had their sessions ended early with crashes, however both were unhurt.
