Lowes fastest in second free practice as Jacobsen impresses in second - Malcolm - 12-04-2013 Alex Lowes was back on top in the second MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship free practice session as he powered the Samsung Honda to the top spot, but the revelation of the afternoon was Tyco Suzuki's PJ Jacobsen who impressed on his debut at the track in second place.
Defending champion Shane 'Shakey' Byrne had set the early pace in the session onboard the Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki but he was later nudged down the order to third as Lowes and Jacobsen improved in the final ten minutes to move ahead of the standings leader. Josh Brookes was fourth fastest on the second Tyco Suzuki from Jakub Smrz and an improving Michael Rutter in sixthon the Bathams Honda as he continues his recovery from his World Endurance testing injury. Milwaukee Yamaha's Josh Waters had been running inside the top ten for the majority of the session before ending seventh after edging ahead of Chris Walker. Jon Kirkham returned to the top ten for Buildbase BMW with Karl Harris completing the top ten. The session had been red flagged when Lee Costello crashed at Village, he was taken to the medical centre but was released shortly afterwards and declared fit to ride.
