Aragon Day 2: Lorenzo quickest, Suzuki arrives - Malcolm - 20-06-2013 The weather improved at MotorLand Aragon on Wednesday, allowing Jorge Lorenzo to set the pace on his first day of the ongoing test. Suzuki also arrived straight from Barcelona. After Tuesday had seen only Honda motorcycles in action as heavy rain hit the venue, they were joined today by Yamaha Factory Racing as well as Suzuki which continued to test its 1,000cc prototype ahead of a return to MotoGP™ in 2015. Setting a blistering pace, both Marc Marquez (on the 2013 Honda) and Lorenzo took turns to register unofficial lap records, with the world champion leading courtesy of his 1’48.076 effort. LCR Honda MotoGP’s Stefan Bradl had become the first to sample the 2014 Honda on Tuesday, with Dani Pedrosa joining the German by doing so on Wednesday. The Spaniard toured nine times, whereas Bradl registered a quicker lap time with the new bike than with his current versio but stressed that this was only due to running new tyres when with the non-liveried 2014 chassis. Valentino Rossi claimed to be extremely satisfied after changes were made to the front of his bike, allowing the nine-time title winner to enjoy an improved feel with the Yamaha M1. At GO&FUN Honda Gresini, Alvaro Bautista continued work with Nissin brakes and Showa suspension as well as preparing for the next race at Assen. Suzuki and Randy de Puniet experienced a more difficult time than they had at the Circuit de Catalunya on Monday, as the Frenchman ran into braking difficulties. He will stay on-track tomorrow, as will rookie Marquez who is looking forward to riding the new Honda. The pit lane will again be open between 10am and 6pm local time (GMT +2). . |
