MILWAUKEE YAMAHA SET FOR SHOWDOWN STARTER AT ASSEN - Malcolm - 16-09-2013 The Milwaukee Yamaha team head to the legendary Assen circuit this weekend as the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship Showdown gets underway and James Ellison is preparing to kick off the final three round title decider in style. Ellison secured his position among the elite ‘Title Fighters’ at Donington Park last time out and arrives with a 26 point deficit to the standings leader, but with 175 points up for the taking over the final three rounds a strong weekend at Assen could see him close the advantage. Ellison has plenty of experience of the Dutch circuit from his time on the world stage and is determined to return to the podium this weekend. Josh Waters will make his debut at Assen and will be hunting top ten finishes as he bids to have a strong end to the season after just missing out on the top ten at Donington Park at the previous round. Ellison said: “I feel pretty good and ready for the Showdown. The races have had such a tough pace this season if you compare them to the equivalent last year so we know like everyone else we have to constantly up our game. The Showdown is the important part of the season and it is going to get really intense. All of us want it and when we get to Assen you know that there will be no strategy and no-holds-barred as it’s that point in the season now.” Waters said: “Assen is another track I have never been to before but I have watched it a lot on TV so I am looking forward to it. I think this circuit could be one that is good for me because of the style. I think we need to be up there on Friday in free practice and see how we go from there.” . |
