Hi
This is how it should work, you phone FROM SCOTLAND from your VODAPHONE to another VODAPHONE, it should just be using your free minutes, as YOU are not to know where the receiving VODAPHONE is are you?
However knowing the mobile industry as we all do the best advice I can give you s to ring VODAPHONE and check, if the dim wit on the other end doesnt know or says " I tink so" then make sure they check and try to get it confirmed by a supervisor or somewhere perhaps on the web, as its to late when you get the bill.
Hope this helps a bit ;-)
Russ

VODA TO VODA HAS TO GO THOUGH PRONTO GSM AS VODA ORANGE ETC ETC DONT HAVE MASTS ON THE ISLAND,SO WHEN YOU MAKE A CALL TO ANOTHER VODA PHONE FROM YOUR VODA PHONE IN STOTLAND (YOUR VODA RINGS PRONTO GSM BECAUSE THATS WHERE THE VODA YOU ARE RINGING IS ROAMING BUT ITS THE PERSON THATS IN THE IOM THAT GETS THE EXTRA CHARGE SO DONT THINK ITS OK IF SOMEBOBY HAS RUNG YOU),IF YOUR BOTH ON THE IOM YOU WILL GET BILLED THE SAME IE ON TOP OF YOUR VODA BILLS, PLEASE NOTE THAT IF YOU TEXT WHEN ON THE IOM YOU WILL GET A CHARGE OF 10P FOR A DELIVERY RERORT SO SWITCH THE REPORT SETTING OFF, HOPE THIS HELPS PS IT IS A LOT CHEAPER IF YOU HAVE A OPEN PHONE AND USE A PRONTO SIM CARD FOR THE TIME YOU ARE THERE ,AND IF YOU WHERE TO BUY A PHONE OVER THERE THEY ARE OPEN AND WILL WORK ON ANY NETWORK BACK OVER ON THE MAINLAND AS LONG AS YOU CHANGE THE SIM CARD TO A VODA ETC WELL THAT WAS HOW IT WAS 2 YEARS AGO ANYWAY
THANKS KEV

I agree with Russ, if you place a call in the UK to another UK mobile you only pay the normal UK charge or in your case if you have any free minutes for Vodafone to Vodafone calls it comes off your allowance of free calls, this has always been the case as its not possible for the caller to know where the receiving phone is and therefore unfair to land the caller with a 'roaming' charge.

Now if the phone that you ring happens to be roaming on another network at the time 'ie' its on Pronto's network in the Isle of Man, then the unfortunate person receiving your call will pay a charge per minute for the diversion across from Vodafone to the Pronto network.

It all sounds a bit confusing but in simple terms calling from the uk to the roaming phone is as per normal, but you have to pay to receive incoming calls when you are on the IOM with a UK phone, and beware these charges can be an arm and a leg per minute plus VAT!! Russ and myself use a couple of Pronto sim cards whilst we are there which means you avoid the roaming charges as you are on the home network.

To use a pronto sim card in your uk mobile it needs to be unlocked to any network, which it just so happens Russ can do for a small fee and he'll have his unlocking gear on the island with him.

Contact him by email from his earlier posting on this subject.
