Michael Dunlop to ride Milwaukee Yamaha Superbike at TT 2015 - Malcolm - 15-01-2015 Michael Dunlop will ride for the officially supported Milwaukee Yamaha team at the 2015 Isle of Man TT Races fuelled by Monster Energy. The North East based team will be providing a full spec Yamaha YZF-R1 Superbike for Dunlop for the RST Superbike and PokerStars Senior TT Races as well as the North West 200 and Ulster Grand Prix. Shaun Muir’s experienced road racing team have enjoyed notable success at the TT including podiums with Guy Martin. They supported Josh Brookes and Ian Hutchinson in the 2014 TT meeting and Conor Cummins and William Dunlop also rode for the team in 2013. The team has enjoyed significant success in BSB, notably in winning the 2011 Championship with Tommy Hill. Northern Ireland rider Dunlop, who made his TT debut in 2007 after winning the 2006 Manx Grand Prix Newcomers Race, has already won Superbike and Senior TT Races on Honda and BMW machines, as well as recording Superstock and Supersport wins on Honda, Kawasaki and Yamaha motorcycles. He will be looking to add to his 11 TT Race victories, which places him fifth in the outright TT winners list. He has a fastest lap to date of 131.890mph, the fastest-ever standing start lap around the Mountain Course, which he set at the 2014 meeting. Milwaukee Yamaha team owner Shaun Muir commented: “Michael Dunlop has proved himself to be the leading road racer over the last few years and his recent TT record is second to none. We are really confident that the new Yamaha will prove to be more than competitive on the Isle of Man and in Michael we have the rider to deliver its potential.” Michael Dunlop commented: “I’ve gone on record as saying that I’ll only race if the package is right and in the Milwaukee Yamaha team I’m confident in both the bike and the support team that will be in place. We’ve already had a look at the bike that I’ll be riding and the early indications are really good but I’m looking forward just to getting out on the track and testing it properly.” Dale McElveen, Commercial Director, Milwaukee UK, commented: “We are delighted to have Michael onboard. At Milwaukee we have for a while, without doubt, seen Michael as an ideal brand ambassador and to have finally secured his signature has reinvigorated our passion for the roads. This is the third year we will have taken part in the TT Races and this time we will land on the island with a high level of expectation in the hunt for success.” RE: Michael Dunlop to ride Milwaukee Yamaha Superbike at TT 2015 - Prilly Man - 15-01-2015 \not even the end of January and he's sorted - no drama queen this year https://www.facebook.com/pages/Michael-Dunlop-MD-Racing/637162946320757?fref=nf RE: Michael Dunlop to ride Milwaukee Yamaha Superbike at TT 2015 - c iom tt - 15-01-2015 Hmmmm..... RE: Michael Dunlop to ride Milwaukee Yamaha Superbike at TT 2015 - rutolander - 15-01-2015 Worth booking for just got ticket on Ben, hope the weather is good RE: Michael Dunlop to ride Milwaukee Yamaha Superbike at TT 2015 - Dougboy - 15-01-2015 This is going to be interesting! The staged publicity shots are hilarious ;-) although I suppose it's entirely plausible that that really is Michael's contract - even if it does look a bit like a blank notebook. RE: Michael Dunlop to ride Milwaukee Yamaha Superbike at TT 2015 - windyman - 15-01-2015 About time! However the new R1 is going to be a bit of a challenge for the roads, if you look at the spec.it has a very short wheelbase (not good for stability ) and a lot of power. I think m.d.is going to have a hard time turning it into a winner. Did we not go through this wheelbase difference before and I proved that it was 1/2" longer than the fireblade and matjack said ad a link to make it longer, I think they will alter or change the arm for quick wheel changes, just hope they don't change it for a factory carbon one, RE: Michael Dunlop to ride Milwaukee Yamaha Superbike at TT 2015 - larryd - 16-01-2015 How long will this marriage last ?? What does all things equal mean? Different riders, different bikes, unfortunately Guy Martin has not achieved any wins at the TT ,although the BMW won 3 last year,I really believe it was the rider who was the only one that, could make that happen. And if both bikes are pretty equal I doubt Guy Martin will beat Michael. RE: Michael Dunlop to ride Milwaukee Yamaha Superbike at TT 2015 - spannerman - 17-01-2015 Just a thought, but has anyone ever won the big bike races, three consecutive years on three different makes of bike |
