Opening laps - Mugen - 06-02-2015

Does anybody have a record of, or know where to find, the fastest opening laps from a standing start for the current TT classes?

RE: Opening laps - desmophile - 06-02-2015

Shouldn't be difficult to get the fastest opening laps for TT Zero!  Icon_biggrin Icon_biggrin

Yep, funnily enough I already had that one. I just wanted to see where 117.366 stood in the grand scheme of things.

A few years ago jim moodie had a quick one I think he burnt out the rear tyre later on Smile

I don't know what the official answer to your question is, but I would say that 117 is a very respectable time , that is only spoiled by the inability as I understand it of being able to ever as it is now,of achieving a flying lap ,

As you will know I am not a lover of the race but I do take my hat off to your achievements on a technical level, I just don't think that your industry thinks that electric bikes are a viable proposition or by now there would be a lot more people turning up wanting to kick your but , so if the electric propulsion industry does not think that electric bikes are viable why should we ? it leaves you with an uphill fight I am afraid

not really a fair judgement  using current tt times afterall theyve been improving for over 100 years

RE: Opening laps - HammerHead - 07-02-2015

It might not be the fastest in it's class, but didn't Conor do a 131.511 standing start lap?

RE: Opening laps - Steady the Edward - 07-02-2015

I think what class over the years would a 117 standing start lap be on the pace , be an interesting comparison, that maybe what Mugen was looking for in the original question,

He did, in the Superbike class in 2010, which until last year was the fastest ever standing start lap 17:12.83 I think the time was. On the old McAdoo Kawasaki too. Icon_biggrin

RE: Opening laps - Kursaal Flyer - 09-02-2015

Mugen.
Are your bikes able to be ridden as hard as they can be for the lap , or do the riders effectivelly have to ride at half potentiometer some of the time to ensure getting the whole lap in ?
If the bike does have to be riden within its battery life it would be an interesting experiment to try the bike at a circuit where the bike could be ridden to its full potential for a complete lap and then compare lap times , somewhere like Snetterton 300 .
