BIG 40: David Griffiths !!! - Anonymous - 27-07-2003
David celebrates his BIG 40 today !
We started celebrating on Friday lunchtime, in
the Horse and Plough at Braddan for a lovely meal
and a pint! Followed by a few drinks in the
Prospect in Douglas after work, then we dashed
home a prepare the rest of the food for a house
party with the Race Walking guests. Not before I
dashed over to the airport to pick up one of our
best friends from this site who has had a terrible
time recently, and she has throughly enjoyed the break.
We had a great party with close family and friends
at Scott's Bistro last night. David had a
brilliant cake with his race walking colours which
included the additional club as he has now
qualified himself to, the 'veterans'.
Some wonderful presents included a picture drawn
by fellow race walker of himself with all his
hobbies, bike racing, Everton football, cricket,
hill walking, a cat and not forgetting a takeaway
curry, its brilliant !
The Everton clock is clicking away towards the
countdown to the Manx GP now and still the bike
hasn't been started on !!!!
David is now relaxing enjoying his latest addition
to the video collection......TT 2003, including
that horrendous on bike crash with Milky !
Maybe we'll go for a swim in former Manx GP
riders pool later, this is Uncle Bob Dowty.
David has contributed some very well written articles in the 'heroes' section on this website,
including the trip in 2001 to Tallin.

Just to say,we were sorry we could not make it,but with the Manx less than 3 weeks away we thought the Steam Racket Co would be making enough out of us!Seriously though,we wouldn't be able to keep awake all night like you youngsters (Helen!!)for all the partying.Catch you all at the Manx---and happy 40th David

Thank you for all the messages, folks. I had an excellent weekend in the company of lots of my favourite people - I had no idea I was so popular ! It's not so bad being 40 really, honestly Barry !
Bill, you just missed Helen with that CD, but I'll pass it onto her when she visits for the MGP.
