Old Radio Commentary? - col63m - 27-04-2015 Can anyone help? Does anyone have, or know where I can find, old TT radio commentaries? I must admit I haven't yet emailed manx radio, although there doesn't seem to be anything obvious on their home page. It would be great to listen to old races exactly as I remember them during the late 60's, right through to the mid 90's. Any info would be much appreciated. thanks RE: Old Radio Commentary? - captainsparkledotcom - 27-04-2015 (27-04-2015, 09:10 PM)col63m Wrote: Can anyone help? Duke marketing do things like this - http://www.dukevideo.com/Search?q=audio+cd&restrict=&start=0 Reminds me, I have a cassette somewhere of the entire Formula 1 race from 1979, must dig it out! RE: Old Radio Commentary? - LukeHondaBrightside - 27-04-2015 Just had a quick search on Amazon.co.uk it has 1960s TT race commentaries on CDs. Selected full race commentaries (60s - 90s and also a few from recent years) were also for sale via download (I bought 1992 & 95 Seniors a while back) at 7.50 a pop! Not sure if you can still get the downloads as I can't seem to find them on Amazon.. They were on Amazon (up to 2012 I think) this time last year, but I couldn't find them when I looked last week. There are 2 or 3 for sale on ebay including the 1966 TT and 'TT Sound Stories' RE: Old Radio Commentary? - numptydad - 28-04-2015 I have a couple of these 1961, 1967 via download from Duke, plus a vinyl of the 1979 Classic and Senior Races, originally produced by a radio and TV shop in Douglas, sound effects aren't so good on that, but the commentary has the atmosphere. I did a pirate tape from a friends vinyl of 1961 and the 62 Junior, but that has become knitting wool through overuse. Good Luck in contacting Manx Radio, but don't hold your breath RE: Old Radio Commentary? - LukeHondaBrightside - 28-04-2015 (28-04-2015, 09:31 AM)HammerHead I think they\ve stopped them. RE: Old Radio Commentary? - harveymushman - 28-04-2015 Have you made contact with Fred Clarke -sure he would be interested -nice guy RE: Old Radio Commentary? - DaveOldham - 28-04-2015 Makes me wish I'd somehow had the nous to record them off Radio TT365 before it got canned.. RE: Old Radio Commentary? - HammerHead - 29-04-2015 Manx Radio are missing a trick not making them available for download - surely it would boost their income stream. Been looking at the CD's listed on Amazon and ebay, find them a little expensive for what they are, especially the box set http://www.dukevideo.com/prd9953/TT-Audio-1958-68-10-CD-Box-Set £39.99 http://www.dukevideo.com/prd9943/Senior-TT-1958-TT-1959-Audio-CD £9.99 http://www.amazon.co.uk/CDs-Vinyl-TT-Audio-CD/s?ie=UTF8&page=1&rh=n%3A229816%2Cp_32%3ATT%20Audio%20CD from £4.25 Surely some anorack saved the audio somewhere from TT365 a while back? Is it worth asking on Manxforums as someone might have saved the files? There are some on youtube though RE: Old Radio Commentary? - c iom tt - 29-04-2015 I used to record them on cassete years ago, but for the life of me I can not find them anywhere. RE: Old Radio Commentary? - col63m - 29-04-2015 Many thanks to all, I'd really like to listen to those TDK C90's, that sounds exactly what I'm looking for. Just the raw radio commentary, warts n all. My memory is fading a fair bit so can anyone give me a timeline for which commentators were where? and when? ie when was Tommy Robb based at Balacraine? When did Geoff Cannel start and finish at Ballaugh? Is there a book on all of this? I like the idea of contacting Fred Clarke and other forums. cheers |
