Purple WiFi, the cloud-based Social WiFi software company, today announced its free WiFi service is being deployed at three of MSV’s motorsport circuits – Brands Hatch, Oulton Park and Snetterton – with a further roll out to Cadwell Park planned for spring 2016.

Visitors to these circuits can now benefit from access to free WiFi from pit garages, spectator grandstands, and restaurants. This scale of coverage, provided by 25 Access Points, is unprecedented at UK motorsport venues, and there are plans for further extensions in the future.

To access the free WiFi facility via Purple WiFi, visitors login using their Facebook or email address. MSV Group IT Manager Gary Carrier says, “We are pleased to be able to offer visitors easily accessible complimentary WiFi, which we believe enhances their customer experience.

“We acknowledge that it’s important to our visitors to be able to go online during their time with us, as they are frequently here for long periods. Equally, it is good for our business if they take the opportunity to post pictures and updates about race days via their social media channels.

“Another goal of introducing free WiFi at Brands Hatch is to stimulate downloads of our new Brands Hatch Live! Xtra app, which features live tracking and timing, and enables visitors to follow the progress of their favourite teams and drivers like never before.”

MSV’s circuits are amongst the UK’s most popular venues for motorsports. Brands Hatch hosts a multitude of major events and is visited by top class national championships, including the British Superbike Championship and British Touring Car Championship.

Oulton Park regularly attracts crowds of up to 35,000 for the British Touring Car Championship. It also hosts two rounds of the British Superbike Championship and the British GT/F4 event. Snetterton has a packed racing programme and hosts the British Touring Car Championship, British Superbike Championship, British Truck Racing Championship and British GT and F4 Championships.

“MSV decided to partner with Purple WiFi largely because there was nobody else visible in the marketplace that could offer precisely what we wanted,” says Gary. “Purdicom, the distributor that supplies our Ruckus hardware, identified Purple WiFi to us as a cloud-based solution that could be easily integrated with Ruckus.

“We were also attracted to Purple’s offer of a customisable splash page and its content filtering service, which ensures that our younger visitors cannot access any inappropriate content online.”

MSV has been pleased with the installation to date. Gary says, “Purple WiFi has been great at listening, taking on board our specific needs and delivering everything we’ve asked for. The system now runs in the background, and updates are made without me having to get involved.”

In the future, MSV plans to extend the WiFi coverage, whilst also taking advantage of the marketing opportunities provided by the Purple WiFi portal. The WiFi installation was completed by MSV using devices purchased via CCS Media and the distributor was Purdicom.

Gavin Wheeldon, CEO at Purple WiFi, comments, “Our partnership with MSV is another great example of how Purple WiFi can help to build a new level of customer service for our clients, and in this case for British motorsport fans as well. We have matched MSV’s needs in a way that no other WiFi provider could, by offering a cloud-based, social WiFi solution that can be effortlessly integrated with existing Ruckus hardware.”

Purple WiFi is scalable, cloud-based guest WiFi software, offering customers access to WiFi through social login. In return, WiFi providers benefit from real-time analytical insights, customer demographic data, information on visitor footfall, plus a marketing tool to send out targeted communications to customers whilst they are in the venue. Purple WiFi natively integrates with most leading wireless hardware manufacturers, notably Cisco and Cisco Meraki, Ruckus, Xirrus, HP and Aruba.

The service is growing quickly, with 4 million users across 134 countries. Purple WiFi has global agreements in place with Westcon Comstor and many other country specific distributors, in addition to an active reseller base of over 300 in 60 countries. Purple WiFi employs over 60 full time staff and currently has offices in the UK, San Francisco, Shanghai, Madrid, Melbourne, Copenhagen and Singapore with more offices planned in the coming months.

Huge growth is being seen in all sectors, including hospitality, where people have time to spend online, retail, where footfall tracking is essential, healthcare, offering transparency around service and communication and entire cities moving towards the Internet of Things.

Purple WiFi has also intensified its focus on the carrier market, developing a service provider portal that delivers a credible offload solution. As the offering is hardware agnostic, carriers can monetize the WiFi estate through a number of different business models. To date, four major global carrier deals have been agreed where Purple WiFi is included as part of a venue WiFi package covering connectivity and hardware.
