DAB radio suggestions - carllo90 - 27-04-2016 Hi everyone Does anyone have any suggestions on a good portable dab radio that will work well for the commentary ? We took a cheap one last year and it didn't pick it up to well Thanks for any help RE: DAB radio suggestions - badlyoverdrawnboy - 27-04-2016 Unless things have changed recently its not on Digital but more people are listening to t'internet on smart phones etc - main sessions are on FM but more of the TT stuff is AM - FM reception outside Douglas can be a bit hit and miss - I have a lilltle sony I bought for about £10 in shoprite in little Switlerland make sure you get one with a speaker and headphone jacks - i also got some sony padded headphones so you can hear when the bikes are passing. if things have changed nodoubt somebody will be along shortly to put me right and cost me more money! RE: DAB radio suggestions - maybolezx12r - 27-04-2016 DAB radios are no goo on the island we use a small Sony radio £10 from Argos and it works a treat whether were up the mountain, in Douglas or over in Peel. This is a link for MAPLIN they are £14.99 as I don't see them in Argo any longer http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/sony-icf-s22-fm-radio-n99dp RE: DAB radio suggestions - carllo90 - 27-04-2016 Thanks for that We had a small one last year and it worked sometimes, this was in St. John's So maybe it wasn't the radio and it was just where we were positioned Been looking at the makita radios for a fair bit of sound RE: DAB radio suggestions - carllo90 - 27-04-2016 Thanks aswel zx12r So it's on normal fm/am? I thought it was dab for some reason last year No special radio required then just me being silly ! RE: DAB radio suggestions - Stroller - 27-04-2016 DAB is available on the island for the major UK stations, but no local broadcasters use it. As others have said - use a cheap FM/AM radio or listen online on a smartphone (but beware of heavy roaming charges unless on wifi) RE: DAB radio suggestions - Moderator2 - 27-04-2016 I promise i'm not on commission for this, but I can recommend those radio's Malcolm has for sale, I've test driven one over here on the Rock, and it's got good sharp reception, clearer than the earpiece units, and small enough to slip into any pocket. RE: DAB radio suggestions - carllo90 - 28-04-2016 Thanks everyone, good to know its just fm/am After abit bigger one as there's a group of us so we can all hear it, we couple plug speakers in to that one really. Thanks Malcom RE: DAB radio suggestions - TTNeb - 12-05-2016 Last time I was over I listened using the radio on my analogue Nokia which was pretty good unless I was near mountains! RE: DAB radio suggestions - Azman - 12-05-2016 Maybe the new promoter will introduce DAB...... or even stereo broadcasts.....and a 3rd Ferry! |
