2016 Oliver's Mount Barry Sheene Festival Powered by Suzuki - Malcolm - 21-07-2016 We are all set to host the third of our four big road racing meetings this weekend as the Barry Sheene festival, powered by Suzuki, takes centre stage at our Scarborough circuit.
Another stunning repertoire of riders have signed up for the festival, with Isle of Man TT stars Dean Harrison, Lee Johnston and Ivan Lintin all heading to North Yorkshire. Having missed the Isle of Man TT due to injury, Dan Kneen will make an appearance at England’s only natural road racing circuit this weekend too as he adds some extra star power to the riders fans can expect to see in North Yorkshire. Scarborough favourites Daley Mathison, James Cowton and sidecar man Conrad Harrison are also scheduled to attend while upcoming star Jamie Coward is another rider well worth paying attention to. The Auto66 Club and Oliver’s Mount have a full programme of races over the two days, with modern and classic solo races alongside the usual sidecar action and it promises to be a great event. With the weather looking good for this weekend and the slightly more relaxed nature of the Barry Sheene festival, it’s the perfect event to make your Oliver’s Mount debut as a spectator. “It should be a great weekend, with the prestigious Barry Sheene trophy up for grabs and the re-run Bob Smith Spring Cup sure to be an exciting affair between the likes of Dean Harrison, Ivan Lintin and Lee Johnston,” said Oliver’s Mount Marketing Director Scott Beaumont. “It’s also the Japanese bike festival this weekend within the event, so there will be a concourse of Japanese owner’s clubs and bikes, which we’re also very excited about.” Aside from the racing, Oliver’s Mount and the Auto66 Club have prepared parades of the circuit for the festival. The likes of local hero Mick Grant, Jim Redman, Phil Read and Steve Parrish are all expected to display some spectacular motorcycles of yesteryear, with a Sheene exclusive set to take centre stage in the trade village. Both of Barry Sheene’s title winning machines from 1976 and 1977 – the actual motorcycles themselves, not replicas – have been flown over especially from Australia, giving Oliver’s Mount a real jewel in the crown this weekend at the meeting.
