SHAKEY STEALS THE TOP SPOT FROM MOSSEY IN CLOSING MOMENTS OF FREE PRACTICE THREE - Malcolm - 23-07-2016 Shane 'Shakey' Byrne stole the top spot from Luke Mossey in the closing stages of the final free practice session at Thruxton, firing the Be Wiser Ducati to the top ahead of this afternoon’s Datatag Qualifying session to decide tomorrow’s race one grid.
Mossey had stole the march on his rivals during the mid part of free practice three but Shakey had saved the best until last, with his last run of the session putting him ahead for the second consecutive day. Jason O'Halloran and Honda Racing held the third fastest time at the chequered flag pushing Lee Jackson on the Buildbase BMW back to fourth with Dan Linfoot completing the top five. Rookie Jake Dixon had another impressive session onboard the Briggs Equipment BMW in sixth place with Jakub Smrz inside the top ten for Smiths Racing BMW. Billy McConnell was eighth fastest as he jumped up the order in the closing stages for the FS-3 Racing Kawasaki with Michael Laverty and Richard Cooper completing the top ten. The JG Speedfit Kawasaki were locked together in twelfth, thirteenth and fourteenth with Peter Hickman ahead of Leon Haslam and James Ellison. Tommy Bridewell was the leading Bennetts Suzuki in fifteenth ahead of Stuart Easton.
