Donington Park looks set to host another action packed day next week when Maria Costello MBE holds her ‘women only group’ track day in conjunction with BMW Motorrad UK & Focused Events on 20th September at the Leicestershire track.

Building upon the success of previous events, the Northamptonshire racer will be on hand - and on track, to coach, build confidence and provide feedback to all the women participating. Costello explained: “There are female bikers out there looking to enjoy track days where they can increase their confidence on two wheels in a less intimidating environment, alongside other women. That's what this event is all about!”

“I’ve been hosting these track days for several years now and it’s so rewarding to see everyone making improvements in their riding, no matter what their level is – we cater for everyone!”

The event will be the second of 2016 – the first having been held at Silverstone earlier in August: 

“The turnout and atmosphere was incredible. We also had wonderful weather and the full MotoGP circuit to play with and Focused Events & BMW Motorrad UK put on some great hospitality. Seeing the ladies leave with big smiles on their faces was a great reward and I know it was the same for my team of instructors; Rupert & Virgil. These events are the highlights of my year and I really hope I can make more happen in 2017 and see more women become more confident on two wheels!”

Being able to ride around the track with Maria was awesome and showed me much better lines. Being women only was great, as riding with men can be quite intimidating, so this made it much more fun as I felt a lot more at ease. I look forward to the next one and any women who haven’t done this due to feeling nervous, don't be, as everyone makes you feel welcome and Maria and her team will put you at ease.”

2016 'WOMEN ONLY' TRACKDAYS ARE A SUCCESS...

Just two days after the stars of British Superbikes had battled it out on the twists and turns of Donington Park, Maria Costello MBE and her team of instructors staged another hugely successful women-only track day at the East Midlands circuit.

The BMW Motorrad UK trackday, presented by Focused Events, was where Maria offered guidance, support and one-to-one tuition to participants who made the most of fantastic track conditions to improve their riding skills.

With over fifty women in attendance, the day was another big success, proving that these dates are becoming a firm favourite on the motorcycling calendar for many female riders.


Costello said: 

“I'm thrilled by the progress all the women made. Everyone improved their riding skills and took something away with them, whether it was going home a better rider or simply riding more confidently than before.”

“These days have become a true highlight of my year. I really want to make more happen in 2017 because it’s proving to be an important and great way for women to enjoy motorcycling and remain a biker for longer.”

Among the many comments from participants, Carmel Kammeier said: 

“I am not generally into idolising but I saw Maria ride at the Classic TT a few weeks ago and on the podium with John McGuinness. Next thing I know, here she is, in the flesh, encouraging and coaching me and many other women. I am back in the office today, but dreaming of my next track day with Maria Costello MBE.”

Sue Ward said she had 

“an awesome day and learned loads”. She added “I am still buzzing. Had loads of support from my garage buddies who helped with calming nerves, tyre pressures and technique. Most of all huge thanks to Maria Costello, you are so kind as you take so much time for every individual person.”



Costello added:
