Zarco and Folger focused and ready for Aragon clash - Malcolm - 19-09-2017 The Monster Yamaha Tech3 duo keenly await the 14th round of the championship where they seek to power to two strong results in Spain, ahead of the triple flyaway events. Johann Zarco intends to bounce back from the unfortunate end in Misano, by duelling with the factory MotoGP riders. Whilst Jonas Folger aims to join the battle with his teammate to clinch the top independent rider honours. The action commences at 09:55 this Friday.
Johann Zarco - Championship: 6th - Points: 110 “Aragon is up next and I am motivated about achieving a great result there. I would like to finish inside the top five and possibly fight for the podium, even if it will be tricky because many riders are fast at this track. As for me, I will remember the work that we did in Misano, which was positive, and the team and I improved a lot. We were unlucky on Sunday, but I will keep this unfortunate moment with me and then I want to delete it in Aragon by getting a very strong result. In addition, I’m sure that we can score a lot of points for the championship which will leave me fully prepared for the three overseas races in October.” Jonas Folger - Championship: 10th - Points: 84 "As always, I am looking forward to the Aragon round because I think it’s a beautiful track and one of the nicest circuits that we visit. For sure we are going to get the typical Spanish weather there, plus the layout is great and it’s a lot of fun to ride. There is a good mix of corners and hard braking areas, plus a long straight, so overall, it’s a track that I really like. I hope that we are going to score more points at Aragon than we did in Misano because I still want to win the Top Rookie battle in the championship. We lost some ground in the last few races so we have to make up some points but I will fight." Hervé PONCHARAL - Team manager “The Aragon GP is next and it’s always a very particular race because it is the last one in Europe before the three flyaway events. It’s a magical circuit with beautiful surroundings and a lot of space, which allowed the organisers to build a big paddock that can accommodate all of the teams. The Grand Prix’s are always exciting and clearly, the championship is very tight at the top so we are guaranteed close racing. Regarding Monster Yamaha Tech3, this year every single round has been a new experience for our two rookie riders. We couldn’t finish where we wanted to in Italy, mainly due to the weather conditions, which didn’t help us as we had almost no experience on a fully wet track. However, now we have some knowledge of these conditions. Both riders are looking to get back to where they were a few races ago, which is fighting for a top six in qualifying and also the main event. Jonas has been a bit unlucky recently, so we are sure that his fortune will change and that he will return to the level that he was at in Germany. This will be great for him and his crew, who are all working really hard. For Johann, he will do his best, as he always does, and push in any condition. It will be interesting for Yamaha because there will be a new face at this round, and even if it’s not in the Monster Yamaha Tech3 team, we want to welcome Michael Van Der Mark who is replacing Valentino. This is a weekend that we are looking forward to as we love that track and the racing is always incredible there. I hope all the Monster Yamaha Tech3 fans will be coming down to the support us at Aragon.” |
