Hose becomes most successful Pre-TT Classic rider Moreton racer notches 17th win at the event Mike Hose became the most successful rider in the history of the Blackford's Pre-TT Classic as he rode to victory in Billown this afternoon. The Moreton man led throughout and his only challenger came in the form of Mark Herbertson, who finished second. Richard Hawkins was some way off the front runners as he claimed third place, but the day belonged to Mike Hose who clinched a 17th win at the event. Speaking to Manx Radio afterwards, Hose was in understandably high spirits: In the 250cc class, Keith Shannon was the winner for the third time, ahead of Will Loder and Bob Millinship in second and third respectively. --- / ---

Record-breaking afternoon of racing at Billown
.
Pre-TT Classic racing continues in the south
There was more fast and furious racing at the Colas Billown Circuit as the 2018 Blackford Finacial Services Pre-TT classic races continued this afternoon (27 May). Lap records tumbled as riders took to the track for the afternoon session of racing. Lightweight Classic Mike Hose cemented his place as the most successful rider in the event's history by adding another victory to his tally in the Quine and Cubbon Printers Lightweight Classic. After a hard fought battle with Ewan Hamilton, which saw the two swap lead positions lap after lap, the Moreton man secured his 18th win at the Colas Billown Circuit, 9.6 seconds ahead of Hamilton, with Jeff Ward taking third. Senior Classic The Greystones LLC Senior Classic made for a thrilling duel between Alan Oversby and Dominic Herbertson, with the lead down to as little as 0.5 seconds at one stage. But it was Herbertson who took the chequered flag at the end of lap eight, a quarter of a second ahead of Oversby. Third placed Mike Hose trailed behind by 40 seconds. Junior Superbike Post Classic James Cowton took his fifth successive Geoff Duke Junior Superbike Post Classic win after leading the race from start to finish. At the halfway point Cowton had a comfortable 14 second lead, and not even a clutch problem on lap seven could give second-placed Ryan Kneen the advantage. Cowton finished the race 22.5 seconds ahead of Kneen, with Dan Sayle completing the top three on the podium. Sidecar Heat 2 In Heat 2 of the Sidecars, Eddy Wright and Keiran Clarke set the pace with a new lap record of 87.6mph on lap two. And, in a repeat of yesterday's result, the pair finished the race 14.7 seconds ahead of Keith Walters and Alun Thomas, with Tony Thirkell and Trevor Johnson third. Support Race Darren Creer snatched a decisive victory in the Support Race, setting a new lap record of 90.755mph along the way. He held the lead throughout, finishing 27 seconds ahead of his nearest rival Robert Mitchel-Hill. Andy Lee followed in third place. ---/ ---
Races curtailed in Pre-TT Classic
Evening session hampered by rain
The weather turned out to be the biggest factor as the evening session got underway at the Colas Billown Circuit today (27 May).
Red flags curtailed racing as rain set in around the track.
850cc Classic Steven Ferguson led the way in the AD Hewett Dental Practice 850cc Classic. By the halfway stage he was 19 seconds ahead of Bob Owen, increasing his lead to 26.8 seconds by the start of the final lap. Dave Matravers took a close third place to complete the podium line-up. Superbike Race Michael Evans was declared winner of the 4 Hire Superbike Race, after the weather closed in leading to a red flag on the fourth of the eight lap race. An early challenge by Jamie Coward was cut short by his retirement on lap one. And it was Peter Boast who took second, while Mike Hose secured third. Junior Race After a red flag incident marred the original start of the race, the rescheduled Friends Provident International Junior Race got off to a flying start with less than a second separating the top four at the end of lap one. It was Dominic Herbertson in the lead at the halfway stage at the end of lap four, before Alan Oversby passed him on lap five. But the race was curtailed as ther rain continued to fall, with the result declared as the standings at the end of the fourth lap - Herbertson followed by Oversby, with Steve Ferguson taking third position. Sidecar Open Final Eddy Wright and Keiran Clarke made it a hatrick in the final race of the day, the Sidecar Open Final, took place in wet conditions. They managed to overtake Keith Walters and Alun Thomas, who had been in the lead for the first two laps. Andy Nourish and Michiel Leeflang completed the top three.
