Dan Kneen - Lap to be diverted - Malcolm - 15-06-2018 A memorial lap of the TT course to celebrate TT racer Dan Kneen will still go ahead despite roadworks in Ramsey, organisers have said.
Organiser Darren Challis said the plan was to follow the diversion and avoid the work at Lezayre Road and Bircham Avenue. A bus will also provide places on the lap for 72 passengers without transport. Bikes will follow the official alternative route which leaves the TT course at the end of the Sulby straight and rejoins it at Parliament Square in Ramsey. The lap, to remember Dan, who died in a practice accident this year, starts out from the TT grandstand in Douglas on Saturday June 16 at 11am. Service at Douglas Crematorium
Mourners are being asked to don motorcycle gear for the funeral of TT rider Dan Kneen, which takes place later (Fri). The 30-year-old from Onchan was killed in an incident at Churchtown during practices on Wednesday, 30 May. Dan leaves parents Richard and Gill, brother Ryan, and partner Leanne. A large turnout is expected for the service at Douglas Crematorium, which begins at 2.45pm. All those in attendance have been told not to wear black. Donations are being welcomed to the Hyperbaric Chamber or the Rob Vine Fund. |
