THREE MAN LINE UP AT PENZ13.COM FOR TT 2019 - Malcolm - 28-01-2019 German based outfit Penz13.com has confirmed a three-man team for the 2019 Isle of Man TT Races Fuelled by Monster Energy and other international road races.
Former Moto3 GP racer Danny Webb is joined by Stockton on Tees rider Daley Mathison and Davey Todd, fastest newcomer at the 2018 TT Races and second fastest in history, and winner of the RST Star of Tomorrow award. His 2018 TT campaign also included top ten finishes in the RL360 Superstock and PokerStars Senior TT Races. Webb, who joined the team in 2016, will campaign a Yamaha R1 on the Isle of Man while Mathison and Todd will ride BMW S1000RRs in the RL360 Superstock, RST Superbike and PokerStars Senior TT Races. Webb’s TT campaign last year included a fifteenth placed finish in the Senior TT. Mathison’s 2018 TT campaign included finishes of 11th and 13th in the Superstock and Senior TT Races, and he has also achieved consecutive podiums in the SES TT Zero electric bike race in 2016, 2017 and 2018. As well as the international road races, the team will also team up with WEPOL Racing in the IRRC Endurance World Championship. Daley Mathison- “Following our success in Frohburg and Macau last year, I am delighted to have the opportunity to ride for Rico Penzkofer’s team at the internationals this year. The team’s machinery and experience speaks for itself. Since joining the team in 2018 this feels like the right path for me. Working with the team is like a family affair and I’m genuinely looking forward to swinging my leg over the Penz Superbike. Danny showed how fast that bike really is and I do hope that I will grow in confidence and deliver results throughout the year.” He continued, “obviously the TT is the biggest event, and with the North West in preparation for it, I should be able to build up the speed once more and target solid top ten finishes if not even more. Having Danny and Davey as team mates surely will give me the right surrounding and motivation and there won’t be any excuses left. Honestly, I’m really looking forward to racing with them and the team.” Danny Webb “I’m facing a busy 2019 season with all the races planned on short circuits and on the roads, but I’m looking forward to the new challenges ahead of me. Rico Penzkofer’s team has given me a good training programme through the winter and I will be going to Spain to work on my fitness and get some track time. I’m looking for top ten finishes at the TT and targeting a podium at Macau. I can’t wait to get the season started and I’m grateful for the opportunity for the next two years.” Davey Todd “I’m super happy to be riding for the Penz squad after successful outings in Frohburg and Macau in 2018. I have great confidence in the team’s abilities so I’m sure we can improve and make progress this year. I can’t wait to get back to the Isle of Man TT, but this time on the BMW Superstock and Superbike.” Rico Penzkofer “Watching the team work together and motivating each other, it all looks very promising so far. The most important part for our team has always been finding the right mixture of riders in terms of ego and talent. With the best crew in the world, a mix of Germans with all their experience from the Endurance World Championship along with our international mechanics that have worked with us for many years now- there is a real family behind all this. Thanks to our sponsors and partners we might be able to even improve on the team’s results from the past two years, even though it will be a big ask. But there is always room for improvement and some more space for further trophies. Bring it on!” |
