Southern 100 Vice President Dies - Malcolm - 01-03-2019 Southern 100 Vice President Ron Kitching (Family Archive) Southern 100 Racing are saddened to learn of the passing of one of its Vice Presidents, Ron Kitching on 28th February.
Ron Kitching first became involved in the races around the Billown Course in 1967 and like many remained faithful to what have become known as ‘the friendly races’ until the end.
Always available when required for course preparation and associated activities, Ron joined the Committee in 1982 and took on the duties of Assistant Chief Marshal in 1989. Following a long period of time, where Ron took on duties of Official Car Driver, when required, he is perhaps better remembered for his time as the all-important Finishing Flag Marshal. Ron’s final years before ill-health took their toll, was a Judge on the Start-Finish Line. He was appointed a Vice President of Southern 100 Racing in 2012, for services to the club and racing on the Billown Course. Southern 100 Racing wish to pass on their sincere condolences to Judy, Boris and Wendy and other family members are friends at this sad time. Funeral arrangements will be announced when available. RE: Southern 100 Vice President Dies - BenjiesDad - 01-03-2019 What a shame to see that Ron has left us all, It was always fun when he was doing the finishing flag at the S100, To aim the bike as close to him as I could, And get the bollocking of him afterwards ! Rip Ron, You were a great laugh at the Friendly Races, |
